Please take a look around and see all the time and energy that’s being put into politically uplifting and empowering the Indigenous Peoples of Nevada. Although we are in alignment with many of the political views of the Democratic Party, our principal commitment is always for the forward mobility of our People, and the Protection of the Land (and all of its resources). Make no mistake, as we do our part to secure civil-and-human rights for our respective nations, and the highest dignity for the next seven generations; we are most certainly Indigenous before all else.
The mission of this Caucus shall be to promote the involvement of American Indians in the political process and the activities of the Democratic Party at the Local, State, and National level. The Caucus shall advocate for public policies which promote the needs of Tribal Communities and the State at large. The Caucus recognizes the need for inclusive representation throughout the Democratic Party and seeks to advance political participation among American Indians throughout the State. The purpose of this organization shall be to advance the highest principles of the Democratic Party, as outlined in the state platform of the Nevada Democratic Party, to foster and maintain truly democratic procedures in the Democratic Party, to support Democratic candidates of integrity, ability, and conviction for public office and party positions, and to arouse and encourage active participation by all Democrats in the conduct of their party and their community.
With respect to the 27 Tribes of Nevada (which many of us are citizens of), we are doing our best to be of service to our Nations and at the same time, using our platform to empower all other Indigenous Peoples within the state of Nevada, for one common interest: Sovereignty. The Nevada Native Caucus is a safe space for all variations of tribally minded individuals. We represent enrolled tribal citizens and descendants of people from the Americas; from remote reservations and vast city spaces. As a political tribal-collective, we understand that our many cultures, traditions, and rituals are different but that our need for civil and human rights, and dignity are the same. If you’re ready to be active and what to be apart of the big picture Indigenous take over…here’s where it’s happening.
